EUROCUP-3 TAKES ON THE TT CIRCUIT ASSEN AS SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON BEGINS

August 6, 2025 by

The 2025 Eurocup-3 championship enters its second half this weekend as the grid heads to the TT Circuit Assen for Round 5 of the season. Known for its deep motorsport heritage and flowing layout, the Dutch venue promises another weekend of high-stakes racing in what has become one of the most closely contested Eurocup-3 seasons to date.

The previous round at Monza delivered the chaos and unpredictability expected from the Temple of Speed. Ernesto Rivera claimed a vital victory in Race 1 and showcased remarkable consistency across the weekend—performances that earned the Mexican driver the lead of the championship standings with 136 points. Mattia Colnaghi responded with a brilliant drive to win Race 2—his third victory of the season—and now sits just four points behind on 132. Valerio Rinicella, meanwhile, continues to climb in the standings thanks to a strong double podium in Monza—his fourth in the last five races—which moves him up to third overall with 124 points. Kacper Sztuka, who arrived in Italy as the points leader, endured a challenging weekend and now holds fourth place with 109 points.

In the teams’ championship, MP Motorsport currently leads the way with 286 points, ahead of Campos Racing with 219 and Griffin Core by Campos with 187, setting the stage for a tight battle in both the drivers’ and teams’ standings as the second half of the season unfolds.

Assen presents a very different kind of challenge. Often referred to as “The Cathedral of Speed” in motorcycle racing, the TT Circuit is known for its fast, sweeping corners, quick direction changes, and narrow racing line—factors that reward rhythm and precision. Key overtaking opportunities can be found at Turn 1, the Strubben hairpin at Turn 5, and the final chicane, where late braking often leads to last-lap drama. However, track limits and wind sensitivity can complicate qualifying, making every lap count.

All sessions will once again be broadcast live and for free on the official Eurocup-3 YouTube channel, with fans worldwide tuning in as the championship enters a decisive phase.

Track activity begins on Friday with 1 hour and 30 minutes of testing in the morning, followed by a 40-minute Free Practice session in the afternoon. On Saturday, Qualifying 1 will take place at 08:28, setting the grid for Race 1, which gets underway at 11:43. Sunday’s action features Qualifying 2 at 08:31 and Race 2 at 11:10, closing out what promises to be a pivotal weekend in the 2025 Eurocup-3 campaign.
