The penultimate round of the 2025 Eurocup-3 season at Jerez saw Mattia Colnaghi crowned as Drivers’ Champion, Rookie Champion and the star of a weekend that also secured MP Motorsport’s second consecutive Teams’ title. The Italian wrapped up the crown with one round to spare, extending a meteoric rise that has already seen him win F4 Spanish Championship in 2024 and now Eurocup-3 in his first season.
The weekend opened with a breakthrough victory for Enzo Tarnvanichkul, who inherited pole position after Kacper Sztuka was demoted on the grid by a carry-over penalty from Spa. The Thai driver made the most of the opportunity, resisting early pressure from Colnaghi, who ran onto the grass at the start, and then defending relentlessly from Jules Caranta all the way to the flag to seal his first Eurocup-3 success with Campos Racing. Behind them, Colnaghi settled for third place and sixteen valuable points, extending his advantage over Valerio Rinicella to 52. Ernesto Rivera was forced to retire midway, while Sztuka’s hopes were further frustrated by contact at the start that dropped him to the back.
On Sunday Colnaghi completed his masterpiece, dominating from pole and pulling clear of the field to win by almost five seconds ahead of Sztuka, with Rivera back on the podium in third place. The result brought Colnaghi’s tally to five wins and ten podiums from sixteen starts, enough to make him unreachable in the standings. With 213 points he has secured the championship and the rookie crown, ahead of Rinicella on 185 and Rivera on 176. Sztuka remains fourth with 161, while Carrasquedo is fifth on 129.
Consistency has been Colnaghi’s greatest strength, scoring points at nearly every round while his closest rivals dropped ground through retirements or non-scoring weekends. His achievements also carried Mp Motorsport to a commanding second straight Teams’ title with 463 points, ahead of Campos Racing on 300 and Griffin Core by Campos on 288.
The Eurocup-3 season will now conclude at Barcelona-Catalunya from October 10–12, where the newly crowned champions will celebrate his triumph in front of the Spanish fans and the rest of the grid will fight for the remaining places of honour.
