The Eurocup-3 heads to the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto this weekend for the sixth round of the 2026 season, with the championship entering a decisive stage and James Egozi facing his first opportunity to mathematically secure the title.
The series returns to Spain just two weeks after its first-ever visit to Silverstone, where Keanu Al Azhari and Egozi shared the victories. Al Azhari produced his strongest weekend of the regular season, taking both pole positions before converting the first into victory, while Egozi responded on Sunday with another commanding performance to claim his seventh win of the campaign.
Those results leave the Palou Motorsport driver firmly in control of the standings. Egozi arrives in Jerez with 235 points and a 107-point advantage over Ean Eyckmans, who occupies second place on 128. Al Azhari has moved up to third with 121 points, just two ahead of René Lammers on 119, while Heitor Dall’Agnol completes the top five with 91.
With three rounds remaining, Jerez represents Egozi’s first championship match point. The American needs to leave the weekend with an advantage of at least 113 points over second place to be crowned 2026 Eurocup-3 champion before the final two rounds at Hungaroring and Barcelona.
While Egozi has the opportunity to close out the championship, the fight immediately behind him could hardly be tighter. Only nine points separate Eyckmans, Al Azhari and Lammers, making every qualifying position, podium and fastest-lap point increasingly significant as the season approaches its conclusion.
The Teams’ Championship also arrives in Andalusia with Palou Motorsport leading on 350 points, 83 clear of Mp Motorsport on 267. Hitech GP sits third with 155, narrowly ahead of Griffin Core on 152.
The Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto adds another challenge to the title battle. Its technical 4.4-kilometre layout places a premium on rhythm and precision, while the heavy braking zones at Turn 1 and Dry Sack provide two of the clearest overtaking opportunities. With the Eurocup-3 cars also able to exploit the slipstream, qualifying position and tyre management will be important factors throughout the weekend.
After five rounds across France, Portugal, Italy and Great Britain, the championship now returns to Spain with everything beginning to come into focus: a first opportunity to crown a champion, an intense battle for the positions behind him trying to close the gap and crucial points still at stake in both championships.
Tickets for the EPIC NAPA Racing Weekend at the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto are already available through FEVER.
