Eurocup-3 heads to Portimão for Round 2 with 30 cars on the grid

June 5, 2025 by

After an electrifying season opener in Austria, the Eurocup-3 continues its journey this weekend at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, where 30 drivers are set to battle it out in round two of the 2025 season.

The Portuguese round comes after a tightly fought first race weekend at the Red Bull Ring, where Mattia Colnaghi emerged as the early championship leader. However, with the field showing remarkable parity, the Algarve circuit will be a key test in identifying the true title contenders as the season begins to take shape.

Portimão is a fan-favorite venue known for its dramatic elevation changes, blind crests, and technical combination of corners. Overtaking opportunities are abundant, particularly into Turns 1, 5, and the final hairpin at Turn 14, though maintaining rhythm through the undulating middle sector is critical. The track’s unpredictable winds and low-grip surface will once again push both drivers and engineers to their limits.

As always, fans can follow all the action live on the official Eurocup-3 YouTube channel, with every session broadcast in real time for global audiences.

The weekend will begin on Friday with two 40-minute testing sessions scheduled at 09:00 and 12:50. On Saturday, official free practice will take place at 09:55, followed by Qualifying 1 at 12:05, which will determine the first pole position of the weekend ahead of Race 1 at 14:25. Later that afternoon, the season’s first Sprint Race will get underway at 16:55, adding an extra layer of excitement and strategy to the program.

Sunday’s action will start with Qualifying 2 at 09:00, setting the grid for Race 2, which will close the weekend at 12:50.

Round two is set to deliver more wheel-to-wheel drama as the fight for the 2025 Eurocup-3 battle intensifies.
