Esteban Masson is the new Eurocup-3 Champion

The first ever Eurocup-3 season has come to an end in Barcelona with Esteban Masson (Campos Racing) being crowned champion after complete a perfect weekend.

Masson and Mari Boya (MP Motorsport) arrived to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with the Frenchman leading by just one point over the Spaniard, and Sebastian Ogaard (MP Motorsport) still lurking at 15 points behind with 56 available ahead Season Finale.

Masson started the weekend strongly by securing his fifth Pole Position of the season and went on to claim his seventh victory uncontested in Race 1.

Starting from P1, the Campos Racing driver held off Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak (Campos Racing) and José Garfías (MP Motorsport) while Mari Boya was trying to recover from P6.

After a long Safety Car period to remove Daniel Mavlyutov’s car from the gravel trap, Masson led again the way while Boya overtook Francesco Braschi (Campos Racing) fighting for P3 with Garfías.

With two laps to go, Boya and Garfías collided with the Mexican getting the worst part of th incident by having to retire while the Spaniard managed to stay on track to finish in P3 behind Masson and Inthraphuvasak. On the other hand, Emma Fittipaldi Jr. (GRS Team) got first points for him in Eurocup-3.

MASSON AND CAMPOS TAKE THE TITLES

The second race in Barcelona confirmed Esteban Masson as new Eurocup-3 champion after another great performance: Pole, win and fastest lap leading from lights-to-flag.

Once again, Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak was the best asset for Campos Racing with another P2 at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya giving them the necessary points to become 2023 Teams Champions by just a 2-points margin over MP Motorsport.

José Garfías had the opportunity to redime himself with a third place that allowed him to climb to P4 in the overall standings over Francesco Braschi. On the other hand, Mari Boya finished right behind to confirm himself as Vice-champion while Sebastian Ogaard (P6) was finally overall P3.
