The 2024 Eurocup-3 heads to Austria for Round 2 of Season 2 at iconic Red Bull Ring on May 18 & 19.

Fresh off the back of a tricky but memorable season opener at Spa-Francorchamps, Eurocup-3 is set for its next and new instalment

The Red Bull Ring, an idyllic natural bowl in the Styrian mountains, is a short and sharp rollercoaster with just 10 corners and constant elevation changes which is sure to become one of the drivers’ favorites.

It’s only wee, bless it, but the Red Bull Ring packs a lot into a short lap. The first half rewards power, as the cars blast along three straights separated by a pair of uphill right-handers. But then as the drivers work their way downhill, the circuit becomes a regular toboggan ride, as the cars canyon through a series of quick corners, including the exhilarating Rindt right-hander, named for Austria’s first F1 champion.

As it stands…

Spa-Francorchamps proved a fantastic start to the season for MP Motorsport’s Javier Sagrera, which claimed his maiden win in Eurocup-3 in a tricky weekend affected by difficult weather conditions including the postponemet of Race 2 (to be held in Portimao with three races that weekend).

The standings

So, Sagrera leads the Drivers’ Standings from Alex Abkhazava (Sainteloc Racing). Kirill Smal (Palou Motorsport), Emerson Fittipaldi Jr (MP Motorsport) and Suleiman Zanfari (Campos Racing) complete the top-5 after Round 1 with Valentin Kluss (Campos Racing) as best rookie and MP Motorsport leading the Teams’ Standings from Sainteloc Racing and Palou Motorsport.

Entry list and schedule for Round 2 at the Red Bull Ring

In terms of entry list, there are two additions: F1 Academy driver Emely de Heus joins GRS Teams replacing Nikola Tsolov, who has FIA F3 commitments in Imola. On the other hand, Brazilian-Colombian driver Joao Diaz joins Drivex Team for a total of 26 drivers ready to fight in Spielberg.

An action-packed weekend is ahead for teams and drivers at the Red Bull Ring Circuit with a busy Thursday including three Collective Test sessions.

Both Free Practice will take place on Friday at 9:35h local and 14:10h local respectively. Then the action will return on Saturday with Qualy 1 (9:05h local) and Qualy 2 (13:00h local) to meet the first B.R.M Chronographes Pole Position awarded of Season 2 while races will be held on Sunday to put the ice on the cake to the weekend with Race 1 scheduled at 11:25h local and Race 2 at 15:25h local.
