2024 Eurocup-3 Round 5 Preview – Zandvoort

Back-to-back events for Eurocup-3 with Round 5 of 2024 to be held at Zandvoort Circuit on July 13 & 14

After four rounds, Season 2 is becoming one for the ages. With 5 different winners in 6 races, Bruno del Pino, Javier Sagrera & Owen Tangavelou arrived to Paul Ricard tied at 80 points in top-3. But then Christian Ho entered the scene with two Poles, two Fastest Laps and double podium including his third win of the season to take thee lead at the end of the weekend.

Now, Eurocup-3 is ready for a new adventure in the Netherlands. The series visited Zandvoort in 2023 with heavy rain as a special guest and the 2024 edition is on the same path. The Dutch venue one of the most traditionally demanding tracks on the calendar. Situated right next to the beach, the old-school circuit swoops and flows at high speed, with everyone looking to conquer the famous 18˚ banked Tarzan corner.

As it stands…

Spa-Francorchamps and Red Bull Ring proved a fantastic start to the season for MP Motorsport taking all wins. The Portugal was different, with Christian Ho emergin with R1 & R2 wins to put himself into the battle for the title alongside Sainteloc Racing’s Alexander Abkhazava, who took the win in crazy final lap in Race 3 in Portimao.

Then first visit to French soil put Christian Ho (Campos Racing) on top of the standings after his third win with solid MP Motorsport’s Javier Sagrera (double podium) second. Former leader Bruno del Pino (MP Motorsport) had problems in Race 2 but his win on Saturday keeps him in the fight with Owen Tangavelou reaching 100 points too. Outstanding performance of Jesse Carrasquedo in his return to the series with a podium finish.

The standings

Now Christian Ho leads the Drivers’ Standings as best rookie too with 116 points ahead Javier Sagrera (113), Bruno del Pino (106) and Owen Tangavelou (100) with Valentin Kluss (76) from Campos Racing rounding the top-5 after Round 4 and MP Motorsport (277) leads the Teams’ Standings from Campos Racing (215) & Sainteloc Racing (115).

Entry list and schedule for Round 5 at Circuit Zandvoort

In terms of entry list, Nikola Tsolov and Emely de Heus are back with GRS Team while Yevan David, who is driving for Sainteloc Racing in F4 Spanish Championship will debut in Eurocup-3 with the French squad replacing the injured Finley Green.

An action-packed weekend is ahead for teams and drivers at Circuit Zandvoort with a busy Thursday including three Collective Test sessions.

Free Practice will take place on Friday at 11:30h local and then Qualy 1 (16:05h local) to meet the first B.R.M Chronographes Pole Position awarded of the weekend. Saturday will held Qualy 2 (10:55h local) and while Race 1 in Dutch soil at 17:00h local while final race will take place at 11:30h local time on Sunday morning
