Eurocup-3 made its first visit to Silverstone for the fifth round of the 2026 season, with Keanu Al Azhari and James Egozi sharing the victories at one of the most iconic circuits in world motorsport.Al Azhari enjoyed a breakthrough weekend with two pole positions and victory in Race 1, while championship leader Egozi responded on Sunday with another win to further strengthen his position at the top of the standings.
The weekend began in typically British fashion, with a wet track greeting the 30-car field for the Official Previous Test.
As conditions gradually improved and the racing line dried, lap times continued to fall until local driver James Hedley produced a 1:55.363 after the chequered flag to put Double R at the top of the timesheets.
Gino Trappa finished second for Hitech GP ahead of Kacper Sztuka, Patrick Heuzenroeder and Egozi, while Al Azhari endured a difficult start to the weekend after ending up in the gravel and causing a red flag.
His fortunes, however, were about to change dramatically.
With dry conditions for Friday afternoon’s two qualifying sessions, Al Azhari immediately emerged as the driver to beat.
The Hitech GP driver claimed pole position for Race 1 with a 1:51.242, beating Ean Eyckmans by just 0.089 seconds. René Lammers completed the top three ahead of Egozi in fourth.
Al Azhari then repeated the feat just minutes later in Qualifying 2. After sitting well down the order during the closing stages, he produced an outstanding final effort to jump to the top with a 1:50.432 and complete a clean sweep of the day’s pole positions.
Gianmarco Pradel secured second ahead of teammate Eyckmans, while Egozi once again qualified fourth.
Al Azhari and Egozi split the Silverstone victories
Al Azhari made full use of his front-row advantage on Saturday, delivering a controlled performance to claim his second victory of the regular Eurocup-3 season.
Starting from pole, the Emirati initially came under pressure from Lammers, who made an excellent start to move into second and challenge the leader through the opening stages. A Safety Car temporarily neutralised the race, but Al Azhari produced an excellent restart and quickly rebuilt his advantage.
From there, the Hitech GP driver controlled the pace and crossed the line more than six seconds clear of the field. Lammers secured second place and another important podium, while Egozi moved up from fourth to third and added another valuable result to his championship campaign. Pradel completed an impressive recovery to finish fourth ahead of Eyckmans, with Dall’Agnol, Sztuka, Panetta, Tarnvanichkul and Trappa completing the top ten.
Sunday belonged to the championship leader. Starting fourth once again, Egozi worked his way through the leading group to take control of Race 2 and claim his seventh victory of the season.
Behind him, Al Azhari was on course to complete an outstanding weekend with another podium and was running second until just two laps from the chequered flag, when front-wing problems forced him to drop down the order.
Egozi eventually crossed the line 6.8 seconds clear of Eyckmans, who inherited second place for MP Motorsport, while Dall’Agnol completed the podium in third. Lammers finished fourth ahead of Heuzenroeder and Bart Harrison, with Al Azhari eventually reaching the finish in seventh after his late setback. Pradel, Tarnvanichkul and Francisco Macedo completed the top ten.
The title fight heads to Jerez
After five of the eight rounds, Egozi leaves Silverstone with 235 points and a 107-point advantage at the top of the Drivers’ Championship.
Eyckmans sits second with 128 points, but the battle immediately behind him remains extremely close. Al Azhari’s superb Silverstone weekend takes him to 121 points, just two ahead of Lammers on 119. Dall’Agnol completes the top five with 91 points, followed by Sztuka on 68, Powell on 62, Pérard on 58, Heuzenroeder on 51 and Pradel on 49.
The American arrives in Andalusia 107 points clear of his nearest rival and will need to leave Jerez with an advantage of at least 113 points over second place to be crowned champion with two rounds still remaining.
The championship now returns to Spain for its sixth round of the season at the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto from 25 to 27 September, where Egozi will have his first opportunity to mathematically secure the 2026 Eurocup-3 title. The American will need to leave Jerez with an advantage of at least 113 points over second place to be crowned champion with two rounds still remaining.
