Esteban Masson dominates at Motorland

Campos Racing’s Esteban Masson won both races of the second round of the new Eurocup-3 championship at Motorland Aragon.

The French driver was fastest in both practice sessions, taking Pole Position for Race 2 and adding two fastest laps to his record.

Inthraphuvasak from P1 and Masson fought off the line in Race 1, and the poleman kept his lead into turn one. The top three, completed by MP’s Sebastian Ogaard, broke away from the rest of the field while battles continued to take place behind.

Couple of laps later, Inthraphuvasak’s lead reduced to nothing as his car started slowing with an issue. That meant Masson now lead by 2.8s over Ogaard, and he grew that to 3.4s before Nick Gilkes crashed out and the Safety Car was deployed.

Masson had a great run extending the lead to 3.5s in the next three laps and was still improving his pace as he set the fastest lap on the penultimate lap to claim victory over Ogaard and Braschi with special mention to Sebastian Gravlund (P6) and William Karlsson (P9) achieved their first points in Eurocup-3.

UNBREAKABLE MASSON

Esteban Masson won Eurocup-3’s second race at Motorland Aragon from lights-to-flag ahead his teammate Francesco Braschi, who retains Championship lead, and Mexican José Garfías.

The French driver has no rival on Sunday in Alcañiz. He defended Pole Position after a really good start just improving his pace lap after lap to manage the gap over Braschi and Del Pino, who crossed finish line in P3 but a penalty dropped the Spaniard to P7.

Braschi defends the lead with a fourth podium in fourth races this year while José Garfías completes a really strong weekend (P4 in Race 1) clinching his first ever podium in this class.

Taking R1 & R2 results into account, Francesco Braschi leaves Motorland Aragón leading Drivers standings with Esteban Masson right behind as P2 with Seb Ogaard, Mari Boya -missed this round- & José Garfías by completing top-5.

Next Eurocup-3 event will be held at Autodromo Nazionale di Monza (Italy) on June 09-11
